Welcome to gray architecture

Rob Gray has a Bachelor of Planning and Design and a Master of Architecture from the University of Melbourne. He has worked for several years at the university, teaching architectural design, environmental design, architectural science and building services, and design communications. His area of specialization is Asia-Pacific architecture.

From 2003 to 2009 Rob worked at Newground where most of his built projects were undertaken. His practical expertise therefore lies in the design of single residential and detached multi-residential developments through the use of building information software, in addition to various commercial projects throughout the city of Melbourne.

Rob believes it is the context of the project, and not the purpose of the architect, that should determine the architectural outcome. He is interested in architecture as both an art and a science, in the pursuit of both aesthetics and technology with the understanding that each must complement the other in the realisation of built environment.
